Construction of a large international university kicks off in Sergeli

On September 17, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the Minerva World of Knowledge International University in the Sergeli district of Tashkent, the press service of the capital’s administration reports.

The ceremony was attended by the khokim of Tashkent Jakhongir Artikhodjayev, Minerva World of Knowledge Chairman Murari Lal Jalan, First Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education Uktam Salomov and other officials.

At the event, foreign investors presented their project. Reportedly, a university for more than 10,000 students will be built here in cooperation with prestigious foreign higher education institutions.

 

The main building will be completed by September 2021. Other campuses, a sports complex, a library and dormitories will be built within next 5 years.

The admission of students will start from the 2021/2022 academic year. It is expected that specialists in the field of information technology and management will be trained here.

The International University is part of the Minerva City complex to be built in Sergeli. Within the framework of the project, commercial and residential complexes will be built in the next 5 years in the area adjacent to the university campus.

Earlier it was reported that the project would cost $500 million.

Minerva City is expected to occupy an area of 100 hectares.
